絲光棉面料一般是含棉的，但含量可以是100%棉、部分棉混紡其他成分，如聚酯纖維(滌綸)、尼龍(錦綸)、氨綸等成分。即使是不含棉纖維的絲光面料也不少見。
Mercerized cotton fabric generally contains cotton, but the content can be 100% cotton, some cotton blended with other components, such as polyester fiber (polyester), nylon (nylon), spandex and so on. Even mercerized fabrics without cotton fiber are not uncommon.
絲光棉面料并非不能含有其他成分，因?yàn)槠渌煞值募尤肟梢蕴岣邚椥浴⑼﹂煻取⑹指械龋@是面料風(fēng)格設(shè)計(jì)需要考慮的問題。織物收縮率、緯向偏差等，需要其他纖維成分的加入來改善，這是織物內(nèi)在測(cè)試指標(biāo)的需要。

絲光棉面料是以棉花為原料，經(jīng)精紡制成高支梭織紗線，再經(jīng)過燒毛、絲光等特殊加工工序，制成亮麗、光潔、柔軟、抗皺的絲光紗線。用這種原料制成的針織面料，極大保留了原棉的優(yōu)良自然特性，還增加了光澤度與手感。
Mercerized cotton fabric is made of high count woven yarn from cotton through worsted spinning, and then made into bright, smooth, soft and wrinkle resistant high-quality mercerized yarn through special processing processes such as singeing and mercerization. The high-quality knitted fabric made of this raw material not only retains the excellent natural characteristics of raw cotton, but also increases the gloss and hand feel.
絲光棉和純棉的區(qū)別
Difference between mercerized cotton and pure cotton
結(jié)構(gòu)性能：純棉橫截面為不規(guī)則橢圓形，絲光棉橫截面為圓形。純棉的縱截面自然扭曲，絲光棉的表面皺紋消失，變得光滑。
Structure and performance: the cross section of pure cotton is irregular oval, and the cross section of mercerized cotton is circular. The longitudinal section of pure cotton is naturally distorted, and the surface wrinkles of mercerized cotton disappear and become smooth.
物理性能：絲光棉光澤度優(yōu)于純棉(絲光后表面光滑，光的漫反射少)，強(qiáng)度高于純棉(自然扭曲消失，纖維排列緊密，抱合力增加)，尺寸穩(wěn)定性高于純棉(纖維素分子重排，原有內(nèi)應(yīng)力)。
Physical properties: the glossiness of mercerized cotton is better than that of pure cotton (the surface is smooth after mercerization, and the diffuse reflection of light is less), the strength is higher than that of pure cotton (the natural distortion disappears, the fibers are closely arranged, and the holding force increases), and the dimensional stability is higher than that of pure cotton (cellulose molecular rearrangement, eliminating the original internal stress).
化學(xué)性能：絲光棉的反應(yīng)性提高(無定形區(qū)增大，羥基隨著主價(jià)鍵的轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)由不可及變?yōu)榭杉?，對(duì)水、碘、氫氧化鋇和染料的吸附能力大于純棉。
Chemical properties: the reactivity of mercerized cotton is improved (the amorphous region increases, and the hydroxyl group changes from inaccessible to accessible with the rotation of the main valence bond). The adsorption capacity of mercerized cotton for water, iodine, barium hydroxide and dyes is greater than that of pure cotton.
其實(shí)絲光棉也是屬于純棉，只是比純棉多了一個(gè)絲光工藝，這是工藝上的區(qū)別。絲光棉一般用于制作高檔POLO衫和T恤，所以使用的面料一般是新疆棉和高檔美棉，純棉是普通棉，這是原料的區(qū)別。
